Cherry Lab at SWS 2016

Three members of the Cherry Lab presented at the annual SWS Conference in Corpus Christi, TX on June 1-3, 2016.

Ky'era Actkins presented a poster entitled, "Effects of fire on sediment nutrient pools in four wetland plant communities along a coastal transition", which was based on work she had been doing as part of our EPA fire project. She joined the meeting as part of the SWaMMP undergraduate mentoring program. 

Nigel Temple also presented a poster, "Plant resources initially allocated to shoot production following sedimentation event", which highlighted parts of his thesis research. His travel was supported by a Student Presentation Award from the South Central Chapter, which he won for his Best Poster Presentation at the chapter's meeting in October 2015. 

Dr. Cherry presented an oral presentation in the Restoration Symposium. Her talk, "The effects of initial planting density and sea-level rise on community structure and ecosystem function in restored tidal marshes", reviewed the work she did with collaborators as part of the NOAA NERR Science Collaborative at the Weeks Bay NERR.
